ABOUT THE COURSE

Intellectual property (IP) is a specialized area of the law whose relevance is increasing rapidly with the growth of innovation and the use of technology in our day-to-day lives. From the development of mobile apps and vaccines to the securitization of IP rights and content creation, the need to understand and utilize IP for social and economic benefit cannot be understated. With this backdrop, this course looks at the various ways an advocate and others in the IP arena can monetize IP knowledge in practice.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, the participant will be able to—

a) Demonstrate how a practitioner can diversify their revenue streams by leveraging on IP practice;

b) Apply knowledge learned in interpreting and drafting IP-related agreements;

c) Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant legal issues, and the emerging areas of IP.

The course is suitable for:

a) Practising advocates who want to diversify their revenue streams by leveraging on intellectual property related matters;

b) Intellectual property lawyers and consultants;

c) Patent agents and other professionals.
