COURSE OVERVIEW
Effective regulatory governance hinges on the ability to design policies and regulations that achieve their intended objectives while minimizing unintended consequences and maximizing societal benefit. Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) in Kenya is a mandatory legal process governed primarily by the Statutory Instruments Act (No. 23 of 2013) which requires regulators to systematically evaluate the potential costs, benefits, and wider economic or social impacts of proposed rules and regulations before implementation.
Under Section 11 of the Act, statutory instruments that fail to undergo mandatory review or layout procedures risk lapsing or legal invalidation.
This 5-day course equips participants with practical skills to conduct RIA from problem definition to decision making
