ABOUT THE COURSE

This course aims at enhancing awareness on tax compliance and on measures to mitigate risks related to tax.  The course will enable lawyers’ advice their clients and also comply with their own tax obligations.  Our instructors are drawn from tax practitioners with skills and knowledge to provide practical training, packed with experience in areas that concern tax compliance.

This course will be of great value to lawyers in all spheres of practice in the public or private practice sector, specifically advocates, consultants, academicians, researchers, employers, in house counsel and tax practitioners.

COURSE CONTENT

The topics will include: taxation of legal practice (law firms and consultancies); taxation of key sectors relevant to lawyers, such as employment income, expatriates’ income and conveyancing transactions; tax dispute resolution; use of KRA digital platforms and emerging tax related legal issues such as Finance Act highlights, tax avoidance and transfer pricing, and e-commerce taxation.

The course will maintain a deliberate focus on contemporary and emerging tax issues.

INTENDED OUTCOMES

The course will introduce participants to tax laws in Kenya; equip participants with knowledge and skills on relevant aspects of tax compliance relating to legal practice, and enhance awareness on emerging tax related legal issues

CERTIFICATES: A certificate of attendance and participation will be issued to each participant who attends the entire course.

YOUR INVESTMENT: Kshs. 60,000 inclusive of VAT and registration fee (covers tuition fees, course materials, stationery, lunch and refreshments). 

CPD POINTS: Members of the Law Society of Kenya who attend and complete the training will be entitled, on payment of extra 1,000.00 to be awarded 3 CPD points. Payment of this sum shall be effected during the training, as will be directed by the organizers of the training.
