ABOUT THE COURSE

This course reflects on the Mwongozo Code of Governance for State Corporations. What impact the Code has had in the past 10 years since its inception. The Code gives recommendation on matters corporate governance for state corporations.

This course will be of great value to lawyers in all spheres of practice in the public or private practice sectors.

COURSE CONTENT

The course will introduce to the participants the foundational principles to the Mwongozo Code of Governance and its historical context. Participants will also identify and analyse the significant milestones achieved in governance, performance and ethical conduct since the inception of the code. The course will maintain a deliberate focus on contemporary and emerging corporate governance issues.

The course intends to cover topics such as an overview of the Corporate Governance frameworks, Mwongozo’s history, Board Impact among others.

INTENDED OUTCOMES8

By the end of this course the participants will be able to appreciate the principles of governance as envisioned in the Code. They will also be able to effectively develop audit programmes and checklists tailored to Mwongozo compliance, assess the effectiveness of their governance structures, and examine best practices and emerging challenges in sustaining Mwongozo compliance and improving governance standards.

CERTIFICATES: A certificate of attendance and participation will be issued to each participant who attends the entire course.

YOUR INVESTMENT: Kshs. 95,000 inclusive of VAT and registration fee (covers tuition fees, course materials, stationery, lunch and refreshments). 

CPD POINTS: Members of the Law Society of Kenya who attend and complete the training will be entitled, on payment of extra 1,000.00 to be awarded 3 CPD points. Payment of this sum shall be effected during the training, as will be directed by the organizers of the training.
